Default Stock Connecting rods?

I was wondering how much HP will stock connecting rods take if ARP bolts are added?

primarily asking because of a turbo build i'm considering re using them?

Thanks!

no no no no no no no no no no .......

if your going turbo and are even going to touch the short block do not short change your self. spend the extra money now instead of living on the edge.... i know a lot of people get 500 rwhp on stock short block but i think its generally understood it may or may not live for a long time. just replace the pistons and rods with forged pieces and live worry free.... plus if you go turbo and say you are making 500 horsepower you cant turn it up later on if you feel the need... forge it now if your going internal.

I thought it was the pistons that where the weak link more than the rods? If you really have to do it cheap I would just buy some pistons but its always safer to go with a forged piece.

why half *** it with only pistons? do it all now... cheaper in the long run.

if you cant afford all the things associated with a turbo you probably shouldnt have the turbo if you want any reliability

I was under the same impression.

I wasn't attempting to half *** anything. Just don't see a need to throw money away replacing things if they don't need replaced.

I am planning on forged pistons. But money doesn't fall from trees here. I'm not trying to be cheap, or unreliable. just making sure I needed it.

No...I've heard more about the stock rods bring weaker than the pistons. Yea...I'd save up and get some H-beam rods and some dish pistons if you're gonna run forced induction. Added precaution, do it right and save yourself grief...

i know money doesnt fall from trees man... thats why were trying to save you money from the start... the crank and block with good head studs are good for big big power. Forged rods and pistons and you will drive fast pretty much worry free... you need the rods and pistons. anything less is borrowed time and a blown investment.

Turbo or the juice I wouldnt trust anything stock especially if they have some miles on them, Forged Pistons a must, wont have to go h beam unless I would say over 600-700hp, get some nice I beams from Scat/Probe/eagle ect and you should be fine. Probe rated their ultralight I beams to 1000hp dont know how true that is but figured my 450hp with a 200 shot would be fine with them. I would call around though to get different ideas on HP compatability though, I would doubt you would have to get ALL forged internals though but definitly gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling however.

Definately get forged ones and nitate your crank.
This is what I would do:

Wiseco pistons
Hellfire rings
Callies rods
Nitrated and polished crank

Stock is 6.098, typically we use 6.125 rods in a stock stroke build with forged pistons.

If you can't afford to do it right the first time, you sure can't afford to do it a second time.

so use the 6.125 not the 6.100 for a stock rebuld? i just had my motor rebuilt and it's still at stock bore and stroke.

I have seen stock bottom ends hold together for along time with 630+ HP with a blower...

Tuning is the key I think...

6.125 is the longest you can go without stroking it and most aftermarket companies sell these rods, I am using 6.125 I beams on my build currently using stock crank and 3.905 bore

According to GM Performance Parts 2008 Catalog Stock LS1 Pistions are rated at 550 hp. I dont know if that is rwhp or crank. I think thats crank hp.
