Default swapping in another LS1

I have a 98 z28 with about 129k, engine needs to get pulled and another one swapped in. My question is can I use any 98-02 ls1 for the swap? and what is involved if I swap in one from another year?

I believe it will have to be for a 98 as a few things are different with the ECM. I guess if you get the ECM with the new engine you should be good to go.

you can use any LS motor. You may have to re-tune a little depending on which year motor.

just agreeing with the other guys any LS1 will work or LSx for that matter. some LSx engine have different reluctor wheels. pretty easy to swap those if the engine is out of the car. I got a spare LS1 out of a 99 C5 if your interested. I have a thread posted with pics if you are just search my Screenname.

any LS1 or LS6 will swap direct. Any LS with 24x reluctor will swap with only a few slight mods to harnesses/pigtails, very minor. 5.3 and 6.0s are direct also, provided they have the 24x reluctor.
