True, but I dont think that is part of the valve seal...looks like they are sitting on top of the retainers or a shim to keep the spring from eating out the aluminum head to me.

Take a look at this link to a new set.

Look like gen 1 SBC/BBC stuff ive used a thousand times to me...its been awhile since ive put on LS seals but they didnt look like the ones in the pic, thats for sure.

they are the same shape and the metal is part of them so the spring doesn't eat into the aluminum, The rubber material is different.

I just put LS6 springs in an 01 TA 2 weeks ago.

Valve seals were Fel-Pro #SS70945. I think they were $30. That is for seals only, no seats. Yours look like they have the seats on them.

Black are intake, Brown are exhaust.

Ive pulled apart many stock heads and black are on the intake, the redish brown are always on the exhaust.

I couldnt tell you why, but thats what I have seen.

The brown ones are a diffferent type of rubber that can take the exhaust heat.

Why aren't they supplied as a set of 16 brown ones? Cost.

Colour difference is so you can tell which are which.
