Default Where to tap/connect mechanical oil pressure gauge?

Posting this for a friend of mine, he's having issues with the oil pressure sending unit so he wants to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge to make sure or verify weather or not he has pressure. Where would be the beat place to tap it? curious if there's a freeze plug that we could use maybe? And if anyone has pics of where they tapped it that would be great also. This is on his 02 LS1 if it matters. Thanks

this was posted for me...

do you have to pull the oil pan to do that? and does it require drilling?

quick google search w/some editing, are you talking about the hole at the blue arrow or red arrow (i can blow it up some if need be..)?

On the top pic, see the little thing with 2 bolts above the oil filter pad? Remove it, drill out the end for your fitting, re-install it and hook up your gauge. Easy, cheap, and you do not need to remove the pan.
