Arrow Main bearing oil clearance tang position ls1 builders Come IN!

What's the bearing oil clearances on the main and rods on a stock internaled LS1?...Just a daily driver with a cam

Also noticed only some of the upper main caps have the bearing tang grooves on both sides of the cap sooo I put the tang on the same side as the lower tang right? Driver side I believe...

And does the #1 main cap start at the Front of the engine? then 2, 3, 4, and 5...and the number 5 is upside down OR the cap goes 180 degrees and the number 5 is on the opposite side of the other numbers?

Anybody got pics of how the numbers and caps go? or description or something...
thanks

Uh, no.
The Block side main bearings- tangs will be located towards the rear, on the #1 cylinder side of the engine.
The Main Cap bearings- tangs will be located towards the front, on the #2 cylinder side of the engine.

Yep you got it.
1 is at the front. 1,2,3,4 are all stamped on the #1 cylinder side of the engine.
The #5 main has the 5 stamped into it on the opposite #2 cylinder side of the engine.
All numbers are stamped so they can be read from the rear of the engine.

I just mic'd my crankshaft today, everything looks great, all the journals are good and came to within about .0002" of each other and i couldnt find anything more than .0002" out of round.
now to order some bearings and measure the other half...

Sweet thanks, seeing the numbers upside down confused me. I'm saving all the specs in a text document...But when I throw the rings on does it matter which way I stagger the ring end gaps? I normally do it 180 degrees apart from the top and bottom one and not on the thrust sides....but I don't know if there's something special to do with these motors...does everybody place the top and bottom ring gaps 180 apart too?

I stagger oil ring gaps at least 90 degree's apart, then align the 2nd ring gap in the location furthest in location from each oil ring gap (if oil rings at 10 and 2, put 2nd gap at 6). Top ring 180 from 2nd ring gap.

Sounds like that method keeps all the gaps away from both thrust sides of the piston too.

and Nice times with that stang, I'm building up a forged 408 and I got a qtk precision 76mm kit either for that or another stang I got...
