Is ticking occur only after car has warmed up? If so, perhaps you should check your pushrod length.

If the wipe is set correctly and pushrod measurements are correct, rockers that are not depressing a valve spring when you pull the valve cover will have a slight side to side movement. No major movement though.

If the valve covers are off, check for contact with the valve cover at the roller tip end and the pushrod end. I just finished buttoning mine back up because the valve cover gasket must have settled a bit and I picked up a tick because the roller tip end was slightly contacting the bosses for the threaded holes on the valve covers.
