I'm curious to know as well. I've read the sticky and seen alot of people say it all depends on what you want to do. The problem is that I don't know how to correlate the sizing to what I want to do. I want something that is a weekend town piddler, but absolute bad *** at the same time. I have a couple other DD's. I'm not going to do anything until I get all the exhaust done, so I've got time to figure it out.

I posted this question a month or so ago. The answer I got was TR224 or TR228 cam have been very proven performers with stock heads. I checked the specs & expected power gains on texas speeds site. I wanted something that would give a decent gain, but not too radical. I got the TSP 228 cam package with PRC dual spring kit, hardened pushrods. For the price, nobody else offered this kit with the PRC duals, comes with valve seals & titanium retainers. I also got the ported LS6 oil pump, gasket package, & ARP crank bolt( highly recommend getting this as its longer & makes installing the crank pulley a breeze). I bought an LS2 chain in the classifieds. I just got the install done this morning, I put 60 miles on it so far & it pulls pretty hard. So far I really like this cam, almost stock idle, slight lope with a nice power increase. Texas speeds cam packages are hard to beat, but I am sure Patrick G & Predator Z know their stuff when it comes to cam selection.

With any camshaft you WILL WANT a stall converter or its just not going to act right. It will idle high in park and the car will lunge/jerk pretty bad when you drop it in gear and you dont want that.
If you go cam only I would say get a 224 duration (@.050) or if you want a little more lope go with the 228 duration (@.050).
If your going to do heads at the same time, you could use a 230-ish duration camshaft and use a set of heads that are around 62cc combustion chamber, use an .045 thick gasket to get the compression around 11:1 and you'll be set. An LS6 intake and a set of headers would be a must...even though my car doesnt have them yet.
Either way you go, get the cam on atleast a 112 LSA.

I just installed my 228 cam so only put 60 miles on it. So far, I like it, drives real good, idle is just a lil more lope than stock with the 114 LSA. It pulls hard, thats untuned too. Texas speed says it should be a 40 whp increase. I really like the power I got from this cam. A few recommended this cam, & it was said theres power everywhere with it, I agree. It just depends on what your goals are. From what you seem to be asking, I think you will be happy with the performance with either the 224 or 228 cam. I wouldnt go any smaller than that. Another reason I went with it is if I went too much bigger than .600 lift, ptv clearance becomes an issue. I am getting the car dynotuned next friday so I will post up the numbers it puts down. You will want a stall with any cam you decide on though.
