I have a 2000 Corvette I bought with a blown Engine and am hoping you knowledgeable GM faithful can keep me on the right track on which engine I can replace it with. I want to stay with an LS1 so I dont have to change harness connectors or reflash the computer. Anyone know if they are all the same from beginning to end in the 5.7L version?

up to 04 for gto. any 24x engine will work, 24x ls2
just have to relocate the timing sensor from rear of block to front timing cover of ls2, and knock sensor relocation to the driver side of block

From 1997 - 2004 the LS1 was built. Along the way it received improvements like better heads, the LS6 intake (2001) and different cams. The 1997 - 1998 used different a different ECT sensor, but it can be swapped out to the one used on your car originally. All the LS1 will drop right in, but the calibration for each will be slightly different. It will work, but it won't be optimized, for example if you have a 1998 Z28 and dropped a 2002 LS6 in, the fueling would be slightly leaner due to the better breathing of the LS6. During closed loop you will be fine, just WOT may need to be fine tuned. There is a lot of info if you search or look through the stickies.

So if I want to drop a 2002 ls1 into my 1998 trans am (egr has been tuned out/removed), I won't have any connector/sensor issues? just drop in and tune later? I'm guessing the pcv system is transferable to the 2002 ls1.. i'm doing this swap, searching the posts, and thought i'd ask..
