Default Compression Opinions

I have an oppourtunity to get some patriot performance stage II heads but they are milled to 59cc. I am afraid the compression will be too high. With a standard 243 it will be 11:1 so what will it be at 59cc. It has to be streetable on 93 octane carbureted with a t-56 in a 3300lb car. Waht do you guys think?

I forgot to mention that I viewed the sticky at the top of the section. 59.39cc on an ls1 is 11.4:1 cr. So since the bore of the 6.0 is larger I know the comp will be higher but how high is too high?

It would probably be around 11.9:1...which I think is too high for 93 octane.

I came up with 11.7 but its probably still too high and the valves will be shrouded with the heads milled that much which is also something to consider.

True about the valves, I would pass on the deal.

specs of cam, and headgasket thickness? I'm running 12:1 static on my 370 on 94 octane Canadian gas, which is probably around the same as your 93 and am getting 0 knock with a fair amount of timing.... same thing 59cc stage 2 heads....im running a fairly tight quench at .030 tho which i figure helps and the cam i have puts me right around 8.5 dynamic.

I havent purchased one yet. I had one custom spec'd last week for unproted 243's though. I wanted to use the factory mls gaskets if possible. .051 compressed if I remember correctly. Plus Im sure the temps in Canada are a bit different than those in Florida ...eh. Sorry couldnt resist. I think I'll just have to pass on this one. Oh well.

My first instinct was to pass on the deal but you know how it is
Kinda like when you see a really hot chick and your other brain takes over lol.

Thanks for the input guys. BTW I must say I love Canadian chicks. I "met" a few during spring break in Cancun.

If they are the old PP's with the welded chamber you are prolly ok. You need to get a chamber volume and run on DCR calculator.....

Your cam/quench/tune all affect what you can safely get away with.......
