Default valve job before portwork?

hey guys,
im putting together a stock bottom end , heads and cam engine for my offroad buggy...it will have ls6 heads and occasional nitrous use...

now id like to do some basic port work to it, including removing the rocker stud bosses, reshaping the valve guide bosses, blending the bowl area, and smoothing over the combustion chamber...

i will be replacing the stock valves with manley one piece stainless valves... 2.02 intake and 1.57 exhaust...
i noticed the stock seats are a bit undercut from the factory, will i have issues cutting the seat to a 2.02 size or do they need to be undercut like how they came from the factory?

also the main point of this thread was to determine whether i should have the valve job done before or after i do the port work?

thanks

Since you are going to larger valves, you can get the seats rough cut to that size...it will give you a point of reference when you open up the bowls. Do the final valve job after porting.

sorry i am still a bit unclear... what would be the ideal diameter to open the seat to on a 2.02 valve? what are you using to do the rough cut to the approximate size?
i figure i might still have a bit of blending to do to the bowl after the valve job correct?

Your machine shop will know. Just tell them you're using 2.02 valves and they'll take care of the rest...

Get the valvejob done before the portwork. With the bigger valve being installed the bowls will have to be opened a good bit. The throat area should be around 89.5 to 90% of total valve diameter. The best thing to do is take it to a machine shop that has a Serdi and let them do the valve job.
