Default Are Trick flow heads flowed with a Exhaust pipe to add to the Cfm numbers

I was told that the Trickflow heads are flowed on the bench with a exhaust pipe to up the numbers a little. Any idea on this ? looking mostly at the 235 heads but a answer for all would be great ?

I don't know. But would not a pipe be more realistic? Would they not emulate a header pipe? I don't know anyone running open exhaust right out of the head.

I was with Tony at AFR checking my heads and he used a pipe with one bend.

I'm pretty sure that using a pipe with the same diamater of what will be commonly used as headers primaries for that particular head is common practice when using a flow bench.

its a moot point because these heads also deliver at the track. they are for real

Yes a pipe would be more realistic but that not fair when comparing to heads flowen with out a pipe.

Im not trying to say there bad heads. I really like them but im building a new engine and im trying to get a little more info so i can pick what i believe will be the best head for my AP. If i cared about highest flow i would just get the Allpro's ls7 heads. But for what im doing the Allpro's would be a waste.

The moot point mean nothing because of track times.
I have a 10.2 sec car with crappy every at a lucky and very peaky 400 hp but my DD with 758 RWHP only runs a 11.5 with about 400 hp from 3k to max power at 6700 Both look close to the same And everyone bets the 758 one with the nice paint job is the fastest with all the work and sounds the meanest. but its not Its quick but its made it to get 26mpg highway instead of going for fastest.

The real specs are what im looking for to make my own choices. I have engineer degree so i know how you can play with numbers to make things sound better then they are

Ok so the afr are flowed with a 1 7/8 pipe. Guessing the TFS are also flow with pipe just on a bigger bore?

I can say the TFS 235 are the real deal. I went threw 3 sets of heads on my stroker and the TFS 235 made more power and under the curve power was insane.

Have you even gone to TEA's website? A couple hints....link will be to the right, and they might describe how they tested the heads on the flow bench.

If you find one of the older Trick Flow adds that gives the flow figuers of their 215 and 225 cc heads it states that they did use a pipe on the exhaust.A lot of the head companys do but your right that you need to know to compare.

From TEA'S website.

Note:Flow numbers are based off of an average of 5 heads tested.
All flow numbers are tested on a 3.900" fixture @28"h20, using
clay intake radius,and a 4"x 1-7/8"pipe on exhaust.

Ok thank you to all the guys that took the time to help. Yes the TFS are a nice head but with what i have learned over the passed few Weeks. Im going to buy the PRC 237 head. I Think it is a stronger casting and will make the same amount of power as the TFS it not more in my engine. The price beats the TFS by a Good amount which always help
