Default Crank Pulley Bolt..

I cannot get the crank pulley bolt out to save my life. I tried using a 600ft/lb ingersoll rand impact gun to remove it and it will not budge. Tried wedging an extension between the ballancer and an accessory and I got the extension bent and stuck, can't get it out, plus I only have a 12 point socket that big and it keeps slipping off.
what should I do? I think I'ma jack the pressure up on the air compressor to like 160 psi and hope it works

PS, car is a 2000 A4 and has 126k miles, bolt never been removed.

6 point socket, johnson bar plus 4' long piece of pipe will give you the leverage to break that sucker free.

Once it's broken you can remove it with your fingers.

Ill try the torch thing. I just scared the torch thing will soften the bolt and ring it off when I try to remove it.. I was amazed that impact gun didn't break it free.

Kent Moore makes a tool that locks the flexplate in place so you can use a breaker bar to loosen the bolt.

Pop the little aluminum "window" in the bell housing and wedge a big screw driver or pry bar in the flex plate until it sits against the bell housing. Then get as much leverage as you can on it and it'll snap loose.

i was using a similar strength impact wrench and couldnt get it either, i took it up to my machine shop and it came right off with the same impact gun, i think the key is enough cfm from the compressor and keeping the motor from spinning over...

Get a 6 point socket or you could find yourself with bigger problems.

I used a 5' cheater bar and just kept applying pressure slowly and it can loose, but yeah.. you need to lock up the flywheel or use one of those tools to hold the balancer.

A few Balancer/Pulley Holders (there are few others out there):
Snap On YA6470
or
Summit Racing #SME-906008

A few Clutch / Flywheel Turner / holder (but you would need to have the engine out):
KENT MOORE (GM) J-42386-A (Flywheel holding Tool).
or
Snap On Flywheel Turner A144A

I used a tool from summit to keep the pulley from spinning. Then a 6 point socket with a breaker bar and 4' cheater pipe. It is tight.

I wouldn't recommend the screwdriver/flywheel trick. If the screwdriver breaks or you damage the flywheel your screwed. It happens.
