Question What Heads For My Cam and Stock LS6 Intake. Details Inside

All mods are in my sig. But i am looking to get some KICK *** heads. While I'm not trying to break the bank here, I'm also not wanting to go cheap either. Just trying to get people's opinions on which heads would best be suited with this cam to make huge power and torque.

I have been looking at 243 heads, but not sure if i want LS6 or LS2 heads. And the 5.3 heads seem to be a bargain head.

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks

Another option is you can take your stock 241's and get them hard core done up.

I have seen good results from Ported 243 and 5.3 castings I've only had experience with Patriot, and they are really good "bang for buck" heads. From what I have heard and seen on here is that PRC heads work pretty well too. I've just never used them. As far as "KICK ***" would go, I would go with aftermarket castings. Vengeance has Trickflow "As Cast" Heads for like $1700 (extra to mill heads) which isnt but a little more than a nice ported factory casting. Because of the small price difference I would atleast give Ron Mowen a call (Vengeance Racing) and see about those and ask about how they would work with your current set-up.

BTW not 100% positive but I think the LS2 versions of the 243 castings have a larger bore than your 3.9XX. So I would just stick with the LS6 versions.

I dont know about stock flow but the 5.3 castings have 15 angle valve job factory and they will give your a bump in compression, around 10.75-1 I believe. All the 5.3 castings I've ever seen installed were atleast hand ported.

Imagine the power you would make with a 30 angle valve job!

Valve angle jobs are the angles underneath where the valve seats. You have to look very closely with the valves out of the head. 241s come with 3 angle valve jobs factory so underneath where the valve seats there will be 3 flat spots transitioning into where actual valve opening is. Long story short the number of angles help create velocity.
