Can I put a sleeve in a LS6 block ?
Is there anything new or easy about putting a sleeve in a LS6 cylinder. I asked this question a few years ago and heard about a Darton Wet sleeve with water holes and O rings (?), that did not appeal to me. My friend called a local machine shop that has experience with LS motors. They said they could do it, but they need to look a the block. Makes me think they don't really know what they are getting into. I have an engine builder friend that does really good work, but he has not done this and he is honest enough to tell me that. If I could find a sleeve that works well, I would take it to him. Anybody have experience with this? Thanks...

With the price of good used blocks on here or even a new block, I don't think it would be cost effective to re-sleeve the block. If I remember correctly, the block is cast around the sleeves and not pressed in like traditional sleeving. This will require the sleeve to be bored out of the block then the block stepped for a new sleeve. I don't see a shop doing all the work required for less than a new block. Before the C5-R, LSx, and Warhawk blocks, re-sleeving was the only way to get a large bore out of these motors and as I recall it was (is) an extensive and expensive process.

I bought a new L92 block, now my buddy wants to fix up the this LS6 block for his low dollar race car. What is a good deal on a new block $1300??

I called Darton today, they have a dry sleeve with a small flange at the top, no problem for $75. Bore it out, press it in. I'm going to try it.
