Default Looking for a cam That will help at 4800rpm

I will be running stock heads and manifolds. And will be using stock tuning for a while after. I know i will need to drill the TB. My converter has a shift extension of 4800 so i spend 65+% of the time at that rpm. So logic would tell me i want 4800rpm's to be stronger. I know most larger cams produce higher than this. What lift- duration would help down low like that..?
Thanks tony

i picked a strange cam from cmmotorsports.

they suggested it. We'll see how it works (00 z28).
3.42 gearing
tci 3500
ls6 intake
pacesetter race lt's/hooker catback

it was like 224/226 with .570/.571 and 112lsa

they said it would be good power from 3800 to 6100 or so. Which is fine for me. I didn't want anything too hardcore that would require too often spring maintenance.

the package was like $624 including gaskets, springs (single), titanium retainers, locks, chromoly pushrods.

When its all said and done i'll post a dyno review of their cam selection for my needs.

I didn't want anything hardcore too lopey with no cats/hooker catback

Most cams are going to help in that range compared with stock. The issues would be how high are you willing to shift and whether you plan on adding headers.

On my set-up, a 224/224 114 made peak torque at 4800.

That 112 cam is gonna lope, and with an auto probably pretty good too.

i've noticed that most every cam, no matter what size, seems to have peak torque at 4800... odd, u would think that different sizes would move the peaks, but they only move the HP peak...

its probably just the head/engine design that creates such peak torque. if you are on stock heads/block there's only so much a cam can do. Can't **** through a straw ya know?

It is strange. What cam has really good HP at 4800rpm??? Im thinking an LS6 or a Hot cam.

The reason they all peak at or near 4800 is due to the nature of the LS6 intake.

by keeping stock tuning, ur limiting ur cam choices, and by not having headers, ur leaving power on the table... hotcam would make good midrange, but needs tuning on an a4... u could try comps 212/218-.558/.563-115... should make good midrange while not needing tuning... or MTI's stealth cam(220-.581-115) which should have a bit more top end...
