CAM will NOT go in! HELP
I'm installing a ZO6 cam in my 2001 engine. I bought the cam tool from thunder racing, Igot the cam/spring install from LS1 how to, I have the engine on a stand right in front of me, but this bloody cam will only go in about 80% of the way. I have turned it to the left to the right untill my hand stops working! I have had it in and out six times and I'm afraid to pull it back out again. WHAT IS THE TRICK ?????

It should go right in are all your lifters out. Maybe you have a burr on the last bearing somehow from taking out the old cam. And make sure your cam sensor is out so you don't break it.

what smokin said you just have to try and picture how the cam is going in and make it perfectly straight. a little wiggling and it will go in, no need to be forceful.

The last part is always the hardest, you need to leverage the cam a little bit...put the long waterpump bolts into the cam bolt holes and try to lift up the back of the cam by grabbing the long bolts for leverage.
With the JPR lifter tools, I doubt the issue is a lifter, and I doubt the cam position sensor is the issue too. Its all about getting that angle right to get it through the last hole inside the engine.

The cam sensor is all the way in back on the top of the motor by the oil presser sender. Probably sounds like hind sight now, but If you have the engine on a stand you should have turned it upside down that way no lifters can fall. I don't know if I would suggest that now or not? If a lifter falls you have to pull the head.
edit oops I didn't see there were two pages to this post. so mine is kind of redundant. I was also going to say I don't think the cam sensor has much to do with it.

THE CAM IS IN !!! And I want to thank everyone that gave advice. It is so helpfull to have a place to go when you have a problem, you guys are great ! and GOD is GOOD!! The problem was the lifters in #7 cylinder, for some reason Thunder's tool didn't lift them enough( Thunder was very helpful and is sending me a replacement tool) I used two magnetics to lift the lifters just a little more and the cam slid right in !
