Melling pump & stock o-ring?
Has anyone else reused the blue stock o-ring with a Melling 10295 pump? The pump came with a green and black o-ring, but I could not get the pickup tube to seat using either of those. I ended up using the stock one and it seated fine. When I started the car my oil pressure was up about 7-10 psi across the board. This morning my hot pressure was back to 30psi, which is the same as with my stock pump. Could using the stock o-ring be the reason why I'm seeing stock-like pressure from the Melling pump when the car is hot?

This model pump is supposed to be stock volume/higher pressure. I'm getting higher pressure when the motor is cold and even warm, but not hot. I know 30 at idle is plenty, but it's supposed to be higher than that...plus I'm paranoid about this after previously losing a motor in a thirdgen due to low oil pressure.

I used the new Meling o-ring, it was a little tight, put a small amout of oil on it and she slid in. but my motor was out and upside down making it much eaier.
my Melling 10296 Oil Pump is like 40-50 psi at idle cold warm, and like 80 at WOT 7000 rpm
The 10296 is the high volume pump the 10295 is the regular volume one. FYI

I just went out and let it run for a few minutes. Pressure is at 50 cold, 40 warm and 30ish hot. I suppose those numbers are fine and I'm probably worrying about nothing. I'll just keep an eye on it and hopefully things should be fine. BTW, my motor was in the car and I could not for the life of me get the pickup to seat with the black ring in there. Maybe if I oiled it up more and was able to push harder, lets hope it doesn't come to that

So, is there a difference between the black melling supplied O-ring and the blue GM one? I just installed a Melling 10296 but used a new blue GM O-ring instead of the black one...didn't think it mattered.

Not sure i didnt measure them to see, when I opened my new meling pump it has the lower spring in a bag and 2 o rings, black and green, read the instructions and use the meling supplied ones. and threw in a drawer the ones that came with the front timing set gasket kit.

Launching!
same issue here...i installed a 10295 and it came with the black and green o-rings. the pic in the instructions don't say which end of the tube is going into the oil pump so its confusing..
I tried installing the green one and wow...it was impossible. I used an unreasonable amount of lube and still would not seat properly. so i did a bit more research and found out that the right side of those diagrams is what will be going into the oil pump...
knowing that, i tried a again with the black o-ring and was still tight but it went in and pickup tube flange is sitting flush with the oil pump...
i hope it works...
