was your car built in early or late 2000?

early ones have 853 heads, later have 241

not an enormous difference, but some

The cam is the brain of you car, you need to put serious thought into its selection. You can put in a massive one that sounds great on idle but doesnt perform, you need to match a cam to all your mods, gear, intake, exhaust, goal for the car, all track, daily driver etc.

why does everybody always start with dont get a big cam etc........?
the biggest cam is probably not the best idea but it is what he wants

to the op
the ms4 is about the biggest you can go with a stock motor
you will need good vavle springs because if you start getting valve float your going to tap the pistons(tsp has some really nice one they just came out with)
and look into getting 4:10 gears your going to need them with a big cam to get car in a usable power range

Quoted for good info.

The bigger the cam the more complimenting parts are needed also. 22x cams could use less gear/converter/RPM compared to a 24x cam that needs steeper gearing/more breathing/bigger converters, and of course more RPM.

The 228R and TQ3 are both good middle-of-the-road camshafts for stock heads, and any 224ish sized camshaft is a nice generous upgrade from stock.

This is not from Texas Speed but probably what you are looking for. Its called the Whiplash II and its around 250 duration @ .050 on a 113 LSA. I guess it drives like stock.

Hey I appreciate all the help guys, Ive done a fair bit a research and one of my buddies is helping me out alot as well. I just wanted to know what cam will give me good useable gains on the stock 2000 heads. I dont know if it has the 853 or 241 heads, Im at FT Stewart right now and the car is at Ft knox. I figured a big cam like V3+ will probably need bigger heads to get more air to them to get the best results.

Ive honestly been leaning on V2 or 228R, also Id rather leave my gears stock. But if its a "must do" upgrade I can do it. Thanks again guys.

these are quoted for truth. these do not go together. you either get a huge cam and a not so street friendly car, or a pretty damn quick car, close in speed, but alot more fun when you arent racing.

listen to this man, that is the best advice you will get. match all of your pieces together, so they come together as a whole. this is why i believe a custom cam is the perfect choice for everyone, no matter what. its like $20 extra to get a cam speced out so no big deal there. with a custom grind aimed at maximizing your cars current mods, your car will be more than just the sum of its parts. a huge donkey dick cam wont perform well if its too big for the rest of your car. do not rush into a decision, and while TSP is a great sponsor, do not limit yourself to 1 shop. give them a call, or any sponsor, or PATRICK G or PREDATOR Z a call/PM and have them spec you out a sutsom grind cam. you wont be sorry.

The guy selling the whiplash II recommends a 2800 stall. People are saying 27mpg in corvettes. No fly cutting required.

This is as far as my car is going to get modded until that LS1 dies of sexual exhaustion. maybe heads later on down the road but thats nothing that would require a new cam.

Does any one know what a MS3 cam would be like on my stock 2000 heads and how would it behave under normal street driving conditions?
