Default Lunati 230/237 112lsa cam

Anyone have an experience with it?

I'm looking at it for a 382 setup.

Hey Another Hokie!

I dont have any experience with that cam, but I would think it would be a good cam for a 382. Is it a bore or stroker motor? 112 may be a little difficult with an A4. Is this a street car or a strip car?

Yeah, well- actually an alumni, I graduated this past may.

The engine is going to be a stroker with a TH400 and 3.89's in a 9" behind it.

It is going to be a "streetable" car- mainly built for the track. However the track is some distance away- and I cannot yet afford a truck/trailer- so it's going to have to be able to survive street driving- and the occasional longer trip to other tracks.

I'm thinking the 230/237 should be "ok" given the larger discplacement- but I don't want to over-cam the car.

TSP puts the 231/237 on 112s in A4 stock C.I. all the time,

they run fine, IM sure the extra C.I> will help tame it down.

That's reassuring. How about passing the sniffer test?

Oh well, I'll figure something out just for that once every 2 year test.

Big motors, open headers, and lopey idles are American

(Besides, according to the Shell station that does the tests nearby my fathers '02 Explorer has no emissions whatsoever...heh)

I guess everyones definition of streetable is different, but Josey is right: these days that is a baby cam for a 382. Judging from the rest of your combo it sounds like you are pretty serius about going fast, little every day hiccups will probably not bother you. You will need some good tuning to get around the headaches though.

PS: I should have graduated 2 mays ago, but I am still around . I think I am going to bight the bullet in may though.

Well, that's good to hear. Although Josey- your definition of streetable must be pretty wild- 230/237 cam in a 346...neat.

Yeah, I'm shooting to go fast (low 11's, high 10's) & go fast over and over again- versus go "really really fast" a few times. So trying to only build with top notch parts- while still keeping the engine semi-tame.

PS: The real world is boring...work/sleep/repeat, stay in school. Although the job market is picking up a bit, so maybe now is a good time to bail.

I have a 346 stock bottom end with stage 2 MTI heads with their 230/227 .591/.581 112 stick in it and it cranks up EVERYMORNING...settles into a nice idle and goes along it's way...even those pesky hot Houston summer days when the AC is on. So Yes...Baby to me is 230/237 in a 382 when I'm fixing to put a 238/240 .605/.609 114 lift cam in my 346....and I'm sure w/Jaysons Tuning I should have no difficulties with it.

I'm just being honest...if you are worried so much about civility put a 218/224 cam in there and be happy...you want power, put a real cam in. ;-)
