new springs needed with mild cam swap
I was thinking about putting a mild cam in my Yukon. I'm going mild because I need it to be able to pass Cali smog. If I do the swap, will I need new springs too?

I am in the process of installinga cam in my truck. From what I have read, the stock springs are good for a only a .500 lift. So yes, you will be needing at least some ls6 or some comp cam 26918 springs. What cam are you going with btw?

I'd look at the Crane Dual springs. They'll give better performance than the Comp springs, and give you the bonus of being able to put more cam in the truck later when a bigger "smog" cam is available.
See, the problem with that spring, and a lot of the other bee-hive springs, is that you get a lot of noise from the top coils mashign together. It's enough noise to trip the knock sensor and cause it to pull timing out of the motor by mistake.
The new dual springs out for LS style motors don't have this issue.
