Default 20k mile prc dual springs with a torquer v 2 cam, would you replace?

I've gotta change some valve stem seals. The springs have about 20k on them. The car is not raced, and rarely beat on. Should we change the springs while it is apart, or should they be good for another year or two?

Do you know anyone close by with a valve spring pressure checker?

I would take all the springs and test them on a tester. A local machine shop SHOULD have one, but not all will.

Agreed, if still within acceptable specs/

I pull em off and replace them one at a time. If I was to go to the hassle of getting them checked I would just change them.

They are about $300.. that isnt that cheap. I would think your fine, those springs run with big *** cams like trex, ms4, polluter, etc for over 20k miles. Those dual springs ARE MEANT to last long and meant to not be replaced for along time, much longer then single springs. If you want to have a peace of mind, just take them to a shop and have them tested. You don't have comp 918s, you got PRC's buddy

Given that the car isn't beat on much you'd likely be fine. However springs do lose tension over time, I'd change them.

theyre not 300 bux...keep in mind you just need to replace springs...half the cost of those spring kits are retainers and seats...shouldnt be more than 120-140 bux
Im friends with Terry at PRC if you want to replace with same springs I'll see what i can get you a deal on them
replied on CF too

I ran a set of dual PRC on a torquer cam for 45,000 miles before I replaced them and they were still good...call texas speed and ask them how long they run those springs and you will be surprised at the answer you get ...

Default springs

Hell
I ran a set of 918 for 80,000 miles. I rarely turn the car past 4500 but i did see a lot of 6800 days on the interestate doing roll ons. I just depend on your driving style. Dual springs I would say you are okay with 20000 miles. Checck the keepers to make sure they are not showing signs of wear. I doubt the springs will break.

The PRC doubles are good to 30-40K without worrying about them. After that, it's sketchy.
