Default which heads for ZO6???

i have an 02-ZO6 (see sig) i am going to put a 231-237/.571-.577/112* cam in but not sure about heads...which heads do you folks recommend that will match-up "best" with cam and other mods? I am also considering waiting until after the AFR heads have come-out and have been tested on some C5s before deciding...any advice appreciated.

I would get your LS6 heads stage II ported and set up for this cam from a reputable source like Absolute Speed, JPR, GTP, Cartek, Futral etc. whoever you are comfortable with and has proven themselves to have a good performing product.

I would say a top notch stage II set of LS6's would be about the best you could get maybe next to the AFR heads. No results yet on those.... good thing for you, you already have the stock LS6 heads so you won't lose money on a core charge.

I dyno'd an 02 Z06 with cam only, very similar to the cam your looking at and it made 410rwhp with tuning.

Thanks for replies...curious if difference between available heads, quality, flow, performance, etc. and how to know getting best match-up with cam specs?

...at worst, the introduction of AFR heads should drive the price of the over-priced ported heads down a bunch....I never understood why ported GM castings could be sold for outrageous amounts....finally, some competition will arive and it should be good for consumers...

AFR heads won't be worth waiting for. I am a dealer of their stuff and everything they do is sub par. Inflated flow numbers is the name of the game.

C5 CU ...

In my opinion, Brent is right about the AFR heads.

You have a great set of stock heads on that car right now.
If I already owned a 2002 ZO6, I would consider installing a set of the ZO6/LS6 heads with the TEA / 'Judson Massingill signature' port profile. I don't think you are going to do any better than that. Talk to TEA about valve sizing.

Just my opinion, but a 231/237 cam is really a lot of cam for an everyday daily driver that will not see a power- adder. I think something closer to maybe 224-227 duration would give you faster low rpm throttle response and still no substantial reduction in HP at high revs. Again, thats just my opinion.

Just remember, it's the correct "combo" that makes for the best HP [and] drivability. Don't lose sight of the word .... Drivability

Good luck,
Ron

Talking Patriot Heads

I would run our LS6 style head,it makes great power, and proven to run a good ET.This head ready to bolt on is $1795.00 with no core.
