PRC 215 11 degree..... Or AFR 225 cnc????
I am building a stock cube ls1 for a 6 speed GTO.
Just wondering if anyone has done any back to back testing between the two heads with a larger cam like an MS4 or similar??
This will be for a street/strip car.
From what I see, the AFR CNC heads out of the box seems to make more power with higher flow.
Should I sell my AFR 225's and go with the PRC 215's??
Watcha think between the two???

TFS 215s is what I would choose.
AFR 225s don't make any more power than the AFR 205s on a stock cube LS1, and the TFS 215s are worth about 15-20rwhp more than the 205s on aggressive set-ups.
Also, good luck finding ETP heads. I believe the TFS heads are good for about 10rwhp over them.
But if you already have the AFR 225s, they are fine. Keep them.

I am suprised to hear the AFR 205 and 225's make the same power on stock cubes??
Has there been any dyno comparrison between the heads? I mean ETP 215 or 225, the AFR 225, or the TFS 215 or 225?
I mean, I am thinking the difference in power at this level would be very small, like 5hp or something when comparring 225 cc heads.

Tony Mamo from AFR has posted his results on the AFR 205/225 before and found they don't really show any gain on the 3.9" bore. The 225s flow more, but the larger CSA hurts the velocity in comparison to the 205s, and in turn the power numbers associated with the increased flow. Also, the 225s don't really kill the 205 in the .200-.500" lift ranges on the smaller bore. Mamo attributed this and the FAST LSX intake's limitations (lopping off flow above 280 and above .600") to why the 225s don't see much of a gain.
But if you put a head that flows more behind the FAST, the manifold will flow more as well, especially in the .200-.500" lift range, creating more power. Or at least this is the theory behind NASCAR restrictor plate racing - more "quality" headflow is never a bad thing.
But this is all moot. ETP went out of business, so good luck finding ETP 215s.

I guess I should clarify on ETP. Cary from ETP started Performance Induction. I believe the goal is to get the ETP 11-degree designed head back out there as well as some other cool stuff. RHS (part of Comp Cams) also resold the ETP heads and may have some or parts for those who need it.
I don't think there was much said on here, but ETP may still technically be around porting stock castings. As I said, I never saw much and their website still works. But the 11-degree head has been on standby for many months now due to supply problems among other things. So, for the 11-degree heads, I think it's safe to assume it will be very difficult to get an order fullfilled. Obviously, if ETP is still around, I don't want to confuse people or spread misinformation. But with Cary gone and the 11-degree heads not being available, it's not the same company it once was.
