Default Question

I raced a friend about 7-8 times a little while ago and I am not happy with the results...We were pretty much side by side...We both have autos

Here are my mods:
595/595 lift 230/230dur 110lsa cam
stage II Absolute Speed heads
hooker full lenghts
lanes true duals
Ls6 intake
lid
ported TB
Vig 3600 converter
3.73 rear gears

His mods:
lid
TR 230 cam
hooker full lenghts
cutout
4.10s in the rear
Yank 4400 stall

He has the stock LS1 heads, intake, and TB untouched.

What gives....I noticed on my flow sheet for my heads that they only go to 575 lift and I have a 595 cam..could that be a prob? They 298/231 @ 575. My car made 418 rwhp and 405 Tq. with the converter locked.

He has you on gearing, he certainly has you on converter, and he has a cuttout. Maybe his tuning is a little better as well? He has a TR cam which has very aggressive ramp rates. You didn't state what cam yours is. Maybe his cam is a little better? If his car is an '01+ then he already has the LS6 intake.

IMO, the biggest difference is the converter.

I think its the 'verter, and the cutout. The XE-R lobe is definitely aggressive, especially at 110.

Hugger :

418 Rwhp is very very good from a auto. Take a look around there arent that many who are making your #`s. There is no doubt you are making enough power but in racing it is more in the combo. Who hooks who spins etc. I know his converter is better and more efficient than yours and has a higher shift extension and he has more gear so he is in his powerband more of the time than you are . You probly loose 20rwhp unlocked with that converter . There are bolt on cars that run 11.4 with alot less hp than u but there are also h/c cars in the high 12`s. Just something to think about.

i dont know why people get hung up about loosing a race to a friend or any race period. your car is definately a ****** stout setup and 418rwhp in an a4 aint nothing to scoff at.

your buddies got a nice setup too; i think the difference is his gears and TC that he's got on you.
