Default Compression ratio and head gaskets

So the new heads will be 64cc and I still need gaskets. Supposedly I will get .5 bump just bolting the heads on then I found this:

With 64cc chambers and .056" head gasket SC=10.61 DC=7.91
With 64cc chambers and .040" head gasket SC=11.04 DC=8.22

So if I use the Cometic .040's I will have 11:1. How much power will that net realistically? Trying to judge if the $140 over MLS GM's and possibly having problems running pump 92 would be a problem.

How far above the deck are your pistons, you need t know that also. If you get the wrong gasket the piston may hit the head. It of course will affect the piston to valve clearance too. Much more involved than just putting on a thinner set of gaskets.

Agreed, piston-to-head is more important than CR.

It's stock. It should be fine reading here what others have for combos using the same gasket setup with even smaller chambers and bigger cams.

Ordered the .040's already... he has fly-cutters just in case but did some research and I am going to be just fine without. We will still check

what heads did you go with? I am curious to see what your HP gains are after the swap. Are the dyno #'s in your sig current?
