Default (insider info) carbarated intake by Edelbrook to be released in january

Had a Edelbrock salesman come in the shop on tuesday and show my boss the new catalog for next year. i got a glimpse of the catalog and sure enough they have developed a retro kit for the ls1 engine. you will now be able to put a carbarator on your ls1. i asked who there general target for this product was because i don't think people will spend a bunch of money to get away from carbarated and he said people that have ls1's in the there custom cars. so i was like cool. but yah it should be out around the beginning of next year.

Sounds nice...I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.

Speaking of carb'd LS1 intakes...there is another one coming from GM Performace next year. It's a single plane designed for max power. I have no doubt the GMPP single plane will destory the edelbrock in high rpm power. The new GM LS1 carb intake is designed to support carbs or fuel injection with a TB. Most cars will need more than stock hood clearance.

The GMPP intake can use a crank trigger. An adapter set up that will allow a factory gear driven distruber is also coming soon. It's very trick. It also has a superior runner layout and will be lighter.

I think Edelbrock goes with a belt driven distruber or possiblely a crank trigger.

This manifold includes a unique electronic Timing Control Module made by MSD® which works with OE sensors to fire the “distributorless” ignition system and offers a choice of three timing curves. We have also included a special throttle and trans bracket that works with 700R-4 and Turbo 350 transmissions making the LS1 engine an easy retro-fit into any muscle car, street rod or marine application."
A little info I came across.

Now you can swap a 427 iron block LS1 into a AC Cobra replicar at a fraction of the cost

hmmm 520RWHP and 2000 pounds raceweight

I think a 3rg Gen Camaro or Firebird with an iron block stroker and carb setup and a nitrous plate system

Strife....is that the "down under" version?

Pretty cool, considering you can pick up a complete LS1 motor for pretty cheap vs. building a regular sbc.

I'd say that intake and one of the TB's that bolt to a Holley style manifold will move a ton of air...

I wonder what the chances are of seeing LSx engines being used in pro racing like NASCAR? Those intakes could be a first step.
If that happens the aftermarket for LSx engines will go nuts.

They already use the LS* motor in nascar in the trans am cars and some of the restricted racing. That is where all of this is coming from. They also have a front mount distributer fuel pump drive.

Awww yes the GMPP single place is finally out in public!

This is the intake I mentioned several months ago. There is also a new control system for it where one can plug in and use the stock crank sensor. That package has a four coil ignition system like the Electromotive set up does.

Front mount distributer, fuel pump & water pump.

I'd have to agree with Heretic. It'd be fun/interesting to put one of those 4-bbl throttle bodies on it with some fuel injector bungs, fuel rails and what-not to make a different intake set-up. Humm... could this work???
