Default Need recomendations for very aggessive cam for Z06 with minimal lope for stealthness.

So that a chevy dealer will not be so easily tipped off that i have a cam and void warranty.

See my sig. for the aggressive bolt ons i already have on my 03 Z06 and i figure just a nice radical cam will give me the 425 rwhp i am looking for.

I was thinking something like a 230/232, .590+ lift on a 114 or 115 lsa might do the job but am looking for all friendly advice as i would like to get 500 crank horsepower (425 at the wheels with 15% drivetrain loss) out of my 03 z06 and i am currently at around 450/460 crank ponies. I believe the stock Ls6 heads flow just fine and don't see a reason to spend the extra 2K, etc., for new heads. The car will be driven primarily on the streets and highways as my regular dry weather driver so i need something reliable with the most heavy duty valve springs as i don't want to be breakin any springs, etc. and crapping out when i take a weekend get away with the wife, etc.

Thanks,

A friend of ours here in LA dynoed 421 rwhp with stock heads in his Zo6. He had the thunder 227/224 on a 114. Its not very stealthy though. Lopes pretty good. The MTI stealth cam is supposed to be pretty good in situations like this, but I don't think it would net the 425 rwhp you are looking for. It'd be over 400 though I'm sure.

do a search on the old mans cam, also I think it was the colonol that put in a super stealth cam that made good power. Try searching on both.

230/232 duration is too much for a stealth cam. I have a 220/220 .581/.566 and it has a little rump. Anything over 222 will be very noticable.

The LPE GT2-3 should be stealthy as you want but you would need ported heads to get the number you want IMO. It's a 207/220 .580 ish lift on a 117.5 or 118.5 said to idle same as or better than stock.

For the reliabilty and avoiding spring issues I'd go ~.550 to 560 ish lift cam and top notch ported heads.

Determined to stick with the no head plan I'd try something like a 224 or 226 XE-R on a 116 LSA.

The valve train noise might give it away instead of the lope with many of the cams being considered.

Check out Speed Inc as they built up a Z06 to around 425 rwhp keeping the stock LS6 cam.

A fast ramp cam like a comp XE-r 224/224 116 +4 will have a very smooth idle although valvetrain noise will increase.

I think it's hard to beat the Stealth II cam for stock CI and subtle power. Mine ran 119.3 MPH this weekend at 3550 lb raceweight with 3.23 gears. Check the drag racing section for details.

This cam is 224/220 .581/.581 116 LSA and is sold by MTI.

I like this cam when used in very free flowing exhaust cars. I have 1 3/4 headers with no cats and a cuttout so it works GREAT for me. For more restrictive exhaust systems or for those wanting slightly lower shift points, I would go with the Stealth I cam which is a 220/220 .581/.581 115 LSA.
