Which valve springs?
I bought a Thumpr Cam part# 54-600-11 and I want to know which valve springs would got best, the P/N 26915-16 or P/N 26918-16. I called Comp Cams 2 times and they gave me 2 different answers. Just for my info: 2001 LS1 in a 69 Camaro with 92mm Intake/TB,Thumpr Cam, Circle D converter 278 mm 2800-3200 stall with 12 bolt 3:73 gears. I know the springs aren't that different but just want to know which would be better if I did have to choose. Thanks

Of your two choices go with the 918's. Personally the patriot gold duals or TEA duals are great. I love the dual spring set up because if a coil collapses then you still have the inner coil holding the valve up to help keep you from mangling your valves, heads, and pistons. Plus they're cheaper and can handle more lift than comp 915 or 918.

If your wanting the single spring kit I'd go with a nice set of PAC singles. We sell them for a very good price & we've had pretty good luck with them.
If your looking into doubles there's really only 1 choice. The all new PRC spring kits feature updated wire sizes & material to maximize performance & longevity. I'll post some new spring testing data comparing the new PRC spring to the older spring like the ones used in the Patriot kit. I think you guys will be plesently surprised at how much of a improvement this new spring is compared to the platinum/gold/Xtreme springs...

Im tryin to pick some springs out now for my 220-224 cam, very mild.
Im trying to decide between patriat doubles or 918s
The one thing im not sure of is would the doubles be to much for me?
I remeber reading somewere that to much could put extra stress on the timing components...
what do you guys think ?

Associated makes the springs for some of your larger companies..IE, comp cams, Manley Nextec, Erson, etc. I do believe that PAC make their own springs, as well as make them for others..However PAC has not made springs for Comp in a few years. Personally I'd go with the Comp 918 unless I planned on boosting it at some point. Then I would step up to the PAC 1518

the Pac 1518 is definately nice. In terms of double springs or going with a spring that you want a long long life, then I'd look to the new PRC double spring kit. The new PRC springs have way longer tested life compared to the Associated doubles we use to offer. In the last testing the new standard PRC spring lost 5 times less pressure than the old Associated spring we use to offer. The result is a spring kit that cost the same money, but goes tons of miles without worries of pressure loss, or springs dropping height...
