Default Main bearing question

So... Long story short my trans had appearantly been pushing forward on my crank and woredown the thrust bearing. Would it be ok to replace just that one main bearing with a new one and leave the others alone? The engine only has 12k miles on a fresh rebuild. Thoughts?

how do the rest of the bearings look? if everything else looks ok i would think you could get away with just replacing the thrust bearing. just make sure all of your clearances are still within tolerance.

if the thrust bearing is shot, the crank is probably shot as well. check both thrust surfaces on the crankshaft, i garuntee the rear most thrust surface looks like a record. it should be smooth. i have 2 LS1's like this and am currently on the search for a soultion...

12K rebuild and now a trashed bearing is mighty coincidental. Who built the engine?

What were they used with? Autos or manual trans and if auto was it modded? I'm interested in this too.
