Default Ls2 timing chain

I was wondering if it is okay just to buy the chain itself and not the set. Beside the difference in chain size, is there a difference between the ls1 and ls2 timing chains?

Other than the LS2 chain being a slight bit beefier, they are the same length and all. Just check out your gears and make sure there is no real wear or marring going on where the chain rides that would indicate the need for a change.

I bought the matched set for piece of mind, plus a little bit of extra love towards a 100k motor never hurt anybody.
