Default New ls1 rwhp n/a record on my dyno, also hypertechs hurt HP

I dyno a ton of random stock through heads/cam ls1's on my dyno.

Ive had several high horsepower nitrous ls1's on my dyno, but the highest previously on a n/a ls1 was 405 rwhp by a MMS heads/cam z06.

My dyno is EXTREMELY conservative. I consider it much more realistic than the unbelieveable #'s i always read about on the internet that people dyno.

Most heads/cam ls1's put down 380-400 rwhp on my dyno...and these cars run mid 11's @ 118-119 mph in full weight 3700 lb f-bodies....

Well this friend of mines T/a Runs 11.7 @ 119.5 @ 3700 lbs, 6-spd

98 T/A, Stock bottom end, QTP headers, ls6 intake, stock throttle body, stock bellows, Whisper lid, TEA 5.3 Stg 1.5x heads, 11:1 compression, 221/221 Crower Cam, 12-bolt, 4.11 gears, Street tires.

This car put down 426 rwhp & 396 rwtq!! jesus christ i was impressed...im guessing this thing would put down 450+ on some of the dynos you guys use...

I never would of believed this high hp #'s till i saw it myself

Looks Like he runs 11.7 @ 119.5

Aidan,

Sounds like a nice running combo. But even at 3700 pounds If that was making 450rwhp it would mph much higher than 119. 426 sounds alittle high for that mph.

MAby I read that wrong but the car looks like it goes the same speed as your other cars that have 380-400 RWHP

Still no where near a N/A dyno record. You missed that by a long shot.

Why does your dyno report 50 - 60 RWHP less than others?????

no mean to bash, but when you boast things you know you are gonna get reactions. my car is by no means a big dog. i run a raceweight of 3590 lbs and run on STOCK heads on a "mild" cam for todays stds 11.59 @ 116.8 mph not locking the convertor and dynoed 381 rwhp on an honest dyno here in FL. ofcourse this is an auto with a moser 12 bolt with 4.10 gears.

Well your also comparing apples to oranges. Down here in this part of California. There has NEVER once been a heads/cam stock bottom end ls1 in the 10's here. You cant take half the cars that run faster than hell at great DA tracks and bring it here and put down the same times nor #'s on my dyno.

My dyno has ALWAYS been veryvery conservative and ive dynoed 100's of ls1 cars with differnet levels of combinations. Cars that dyno 450 rwhp at Morgan Motorsports, dyno 400 rwhp on my dyno.

Cars that run 11.0's @ 122 at other tracks, come to our track (10 minutes from our shop) and run 11.5's @ 118-119.

Its not about disputing everyone elses claims, but on my ultra conservative dyno, someone finally put down some decent #'s...

Where in California are you? There are a couple of us western boys that have gone 10's NA stock shortblock in CA. Terry Burger for one and myself as well. I've even gone 10.8 at our local track that sits at 1500ft. If you're talking about LACR at 3500ft. then no, but closer than you might think.

Yes we go to LACR....its only track closer around here... theres a few cars ive put together for guys that ran mid11's there but nothing in the 10's...its .4 tenths slower than Sacramento etc there...

so you are saying there could be as much as a 50 rwhp difference between your dynojet and MMS? i mean it is just a tool, but come on? how do you account for the disparity? no rip, just want to understand your reasoning. i fully understand the dyno is a tuning tool and couldnt give a rats behind what the peak numbers are. with std/sae correction factors how could this be? i would say there is a variance of maybe 5-7 rwhp given two dynos made by the same company, same model, but 50 rwhp? you have to be kidding yourself.

oh and my runs were far from the - 1500 DA that some others run at. but that is another story. it seems like you dont believe there are fast cars out there. at TR Shootout, the DA=+1500 or so most of the weekend with PLENTY of 10.9 heads and cam cars once they ran at their normal race weight. in CA, just like Jantzer said, two guys did it a long time ago. keep up with the progress of the ls1 and good luck in your ventures.

Does anyone ACTUALLY read a whole post or do they skip over every other word and fill in the rest using their biased imagination?

Nice numbers on that car - especially if they are that much higher than what you've seen on YOUR "conservative" dyno. 426 is outstanding anywhere, and especially if most modded cars arent showing RWHP that high on YOUR dyno.

Sounds like he has a pretty good combo working.

Man, thats awesome, another shop that has our heads showing the highest dyno numbers with a TINY cam, I have heard this from several other shops. We have seen the same on our dyno, our head on our dyno has only made 435 with a 224/224 cam, we have had ONE car make more power on our dyno, but it had LS6 heads and a HUGE cam and only made 442, the LS6 heads should have been worth 5-10 RWHP by themselves. But in consideration of CHEVYDAN and a few others out there, he only made close to 400 with the same type of cam on our dyno, so what gives? We are in the midst of a big investigation as to how such a disparity between cars can exist with a CNC ported head. So what shop do you have and what was the customers name? Thanks, Brian

It's kind of funny how most of these posts sound like advetisements......

How are you running a 3000 pound raceweight (with an iron block), a TH350, and even worried about getting 20mpg? Just a question....
