Default Lifters install without taking the heads off.

Ive got to do main, rod bearings and rod bolts so the crank will be out and its much easier to pull the cam than heads. So I want to confirm that I can get every lifter out and back in from underneath through the cam jornals.

I just looked at my moter on a stand and I think you could probly do it with the crank out of the way. Is the engine out of the car?

Cool, the engine will be on the stand for the second time in as many weaks... Tried to get away without doing the bottom end on a Trex install and either spun a rod bearing or lost a rod bolt. So needless to say the crank and cam will be completely out.

How old are the head gaskets? How many miles on the engine?

Its got 150K on it. I would LOVE to put ARP bolts in and a set of pistons just so she can spray it but the owner is on a VERY VERY tight budget so saving her a couple hundred right now on headgaskets and bolts is kind of a big deal.... She knows she WILL have to do them but is hoping to finish out the year with just lifters and bearings and next year take care of what we missed this year..

To each there own, but I would go for a full freshen up if it were me. I've had my moter out twice and its not that bad of a job, just not something I like to do all the time. Good luck.

147.97 to be exact But ya i agree with ya... The head gaskets are holding up so more than likely we'll just have to keep them for now.... I can only spend other ppls money when they have it to spend...

One more thing... Be careful to get the flat sides of the lifters in to the plastic trays when you reinstall.

I don't think he is scared, I think he is trying to save someone else the money of new head bolt and head gaskets.

Haha your so funny..... 68RS is absolutely right... We would like nothing more than to do head bolts and MLS's and while were at it pistons and rings but its just not it the cards....
