trouble lowering oil panel to install new pump during cam swap

Default trouble lowering oil panel to install new pump during cam swap

in the middle of a cam swap and i've unbolted 10 of the oil pump bolts like it says in ls1howto, i've pulled on the pan but the thing will not lower at all.

Did you try to wedge something in and break it loose?

FYI it doesnt lower much at all, it pretty much only breaks loose and then it hits the k member. Its the not fun part of cam swaps.

did you remove the 2 lower bellhousing bolts????

yeah, got those two lower bolts and it "lowered". got past all that now just having trouble getting the front seal out of the cover. when hammered/screwdriver it just cuts the little inside rubber lip.

now, i have never tried to do it this way, but, have you tried to loose the engine mounts and transmission mounts and jack the engine up as much as you need... say like with a piece of 2x4 on the transmission bell housing.

Thanks for all the help guys.. Cam is in. was completed at 430 and everything runs great. Hopefully tomorrow will have tune and numbers.
