Default Car went boom! help! 01 T/A

so i did my first head/intake swap over the weekend. here's the mods ive had before the swap:
MSD Ignition Packs
SLP Lid
Pacesetter L/T Headers
O/R Y-Pipe
Hooker Catback
Eibach Springs
Trex cam
.
it's my first LS1 and i did it all myself. so i decided to do a head intake swap. i bought PCS 5.3 stage 2.5 Heads and Fast 92/92. comp pushrods 7.350 and comp cam lifters.

i thought the swap went pretty good. after all was done i changed the oil and added coolant.

went to start the car. it started then died. wouldnt start again.
hooked up the bat. jumper and it started. 5mins of running i hear a loud BANG. i look out the drivers door and my oil is spilling out with coolant..

i looked under the car- half my oil pan was gone and was on the floor with some guts.

any ideas of wtf went wrong?

btw i get my car tuned by wait4meperformance.com (jesse Bubbs) i live 10mins from him.

Without teardown information, it could be several things.

so how much Piston to valve clearance did you have.I am sure you must have checked with a T-rex cam

Sorry to hear it, that sucks. I wonder if you had some coolant left in a head bolt hole when you put in the head bolts - maybe cracked the block. Post up when you figure it out.

well figured out what caused it. connecting rod broke and it cracked the block and broke the oil pan.

what caused that to break? Too little PTV clearance? That cam seems awfully large for those heads without flycutting.

there are problems with clearance!!! i had a trex cam and the valves bounced off the pistons, you almost have to buy flycut pistons..you'll lose a little compression but not much mine took it to like 10.0 i think but its a must with the trex...your not supposed to run aftermarket heads at all with the trex unless the valve angle is better for the cam. i was running stock heads and mine bounced. id suggest when you put it back together get flycut pistons, that way you will have no worries next time.

^^^ If you where running anything other than stock heads and stock valves with the Trex you where in for a rude awakening as you saw. Did you ask any questions at all in here or the retailer?

What heads where u running, chamber size, valves size? If you heads where milled and running smaller chambers, it is a good chance that you bounced that piston off both valves, because the Piston to valve clearance would have been none.

you always have to check piston to valve clearance no matter what when doing a cam swap. Sorry to hear about the break

2 scenarios or combo of both IMO:

Assuming you had the PRCs with sunken valves, that would have allowed the cam to turn by hand while being too tight on PTV and your pistons ate the valves.
Or
You didn't clean the head bolt holes well enough leaving some liquid in. Upon reinstall you cracked the block and once started the rest is history. Liquid does not compress.

That is an unfortuanate and costly mistake. Time for a new block at least.
Tear it down and see what happened.Post pics so we can look at the carnage.
