Default Another dropping engine out the bottom questions

I've searched and read a lot but I'm still looking for tips on doing this. I have a blown shortblock & going to replace it with a LQ4 if I can find one.

What I have to work with:
No lift. Cherry picker. 98 Trans Am a4.
Two car garage. Normal ceiling height (like 8 or 9 feet). Will I have enough ceiling room to slide the engine out from underneath?

I do not own any of the half-decent floor jacks but would you recommend me getting one or two? They're kinda expensive, so not sure if it'd be a waste of money. Also, I have no ideas what to put under the engine & trans for it to sit on and slide out from under the car. Any ideas there??

no problem, you will have room. you might have to close the hood down on the hoist when you lift it. you can roll and slide it out without anything under it if the wheels are still on it, but its easier if you have a really low profile cart type of deal on casters. i found a nice low one at lowes for cheap.

super simple. Get a low profile furniture dolly. Put the back tires up on ramps. Lift the car up with the hoist, put a few 4x4's on top of the furniture dolly. Lower the car down onto the dolly, so the k member is resting on it. Unbolt the 6 bolts holding the k member to the car, slowly raise the body off the k member/motor and roll it out the side.

x3, you'll have plenty of room. Might have to take the hood off. Done two out the bottom now, piece of cake.

Watch the brake lines! I had one get stretched. But, yes, this is fairly straight-forward.

I had to take the hood off to get mine out. If you have the rear off the ground as much as possible you will have more room to rise the car up to get the motor out the side. Make sure you unplug everything because I left the left side abs sensor plugin and stretched it. Make sure you take a pic of you in the engine bay.

i like having two jacks. one on each side to set the car down on the engine/cradle dolley.
i have seen people use the engine hoist for that but I do not recommend it. set it down, unbolt the cradle thenuse the hoist to lift the body.
i have done it in normal height garages without any issues
I have car dolleys that I put 2x8's across to set the engine down on. then normally put a jack under the trans
