Default How Long will the stock Crank live on a 200-300 shot?

Were talking 6.0L truck crank... Given the truck crank is the same size as the LS1 and supposed to be slighty stonger and heavier.. So, iron block, forged internals with a stock crank.. How long will it live on a 200-300 shot? Please post up your experiences and thoughts..

Thanks

Forever id say...ive yet to see anyone anywhere break one from to much HP Failure...

Id have no doubts about it in the 700-900 hp range

I know your sig says all forged internals, so are you running a stock crank?

A stock crank would probably take more than you could ever throw at it. Big Mike runs a 300 shot and 9.40s on one, Harlan used one in his 10.00 @ 141 motor, etc. A 200-300 shot wouldn't hurt it at all, IMO.

I still have the same stock crank in the new motor too. last dyno was 820 RWHP right before thunder. Too bad the rest of the car didn't cooperate

820hp is nice ans all, but we all know that torque is what breaks a crankshaft. you coulsd have 1000hp and 10ft/lbs of tq and and the damn thing WILL last forever. What I want to know is how much tq will a stock crank hold, and will going from 400 ft/lbs na to 1000ft/lbs on the bottle in a split second break it in half??????? It seems to me anything that is not forged and not very well balanced would snap like a toothpick.

Thank you that is all

Nah...it will hold. In addition to those that have posted my stock OFFSET GROUND crank has lived with over 700 rwhp and 700-750 rwtq to almost a year now. Beat the snot out of it every weekend.

"you coulsd have 1000hp and 10ft/lbs of tq and and the damn thing WILL last forever.

Just food for thought but 1000 HP at 10 ft/lb of TQ would require an RPM of 525200. You think a crank would take those inertial forces? I kinda doubt it.

HP*5252/TQ=RPM

And again I remind people that HP is just a given TQ at a given RPM. HP is a DIRECT calculation of work derived from TQ (force) and RPM (movement.)
