Default Heads Cam List, please help

Looking to do a Patriot Stage II heads/cam install. Labor is going to be around $1200 including exhaust so I'd like to change all the other maintenance parts while everything is apart.

Here's the list, please add or subtract or tell me what's a better brand, etc.. Thanks for any help.

98 LS1 A4 - daily driver, no more than 1-2 times per year to the track.

. dual springs?
. pushrods?
. gaskets (which ones are good?)
. cam for A4 that is streetable
. timing chain
. LS6 intake
. longtubes w/off roads (PaceSetter)
. will be doing LS1 Edit so no 02 simms & ext
. oilpump
. waterpump
. shift kit (TransGo)
.

-The dual springs will be overkill on a "streetable A4 cam", the new Patriot single springs should be good.
-Definitely do hardened pushrods, ~$100.
-Stock GM gaskets are the best, you'll also need new head bolts.
-As far as a cam, I would do MTI "Stealth" or TR "Old man" cams (<220 duration).
-Timing chain, either new GM or JWIS chain (uses stock sprockets).
-LS6 intake, this one is tough, depends on the price you can get one for, in a month or two these are gonna drop in price BIG TIME once the LSx intake is available, but definitely something that would help, IMO.
-Pacesetters look like good headers for the $$$, probably the best deal out there now.
-Upgrade your oil pump to 2001+ and you'll be fine.
-Elec. Water pump is an expensive mod ($500+) for relatively little gain (7-10 hp) your money is better spent elsewhere on a mild setup such as yours.

Lastly, and more importantly, you need a stall. A stall will wake up your car as much/if not more than all the above listed mods. Also, if you are at all mechanically inclined, I would look into doing the swap yourself, and saving the $1200 labor. Its not that hard, IMO.

Good luck, research research research. I bought my first setup based on impulse and didn't do any research, and was disappointed with it. See what other peoples combos are doing, etc. Heads and cam need to be complimentary to each other, not two seperate parts.

I agree with spanky on the springs, and a Torque converter is a must. Your list sounds good all and all, camshaft is really up to you,but if you want good performance a 224 duration cam would do will, if you want more top end performance a 228 to 230 duration cam would make more power. Alot to choose from but you will make good power whatever you choose.

In my opinion you are going to need a little computer programming.

also i believe youll need o2 extensions...even with ls1 edit cuz they are meant for the foward two o2 sensors. I think other than also getting a converter you should be good to go.

For a daily driver you can't beat a TR224 114 plus a set of Comp 918's. Any less and you're just leaving power on the table. If you had a big emphasis on racing I'd say go even bigger.

. dual springs?
Patriot Heads Include Dual Springs & Titanium Retainers
. pushrods?
YEP
. gaskets (which ones are good?)
GM Gasket Package
. cam for A4 that is streetable
224/224 581 581 112/114 or maybe 228/228 588 588 112
. timing chain
Some People Run the Rollmaster Chain, some just stay stock
. LS6 intake
On Special $350 in sponsor section.
. longtubes w/off roads (PaceSetter)
PaceSetter Is definately the best value in headers currently, & the performance is good. We ran them on our project Z that went 10.78 stock cubes.

. will be doing LS1 Edit so no 02 simms & ext
. oilpump
Ported Oil Pump isn't a bad plan
. waterpump
Some guys run the electric waterpump, but if your just wanting a low mileage stock pump post in the parts wanted section, you'll find a stock one for cheap I bet
. shift kit (TransGo)
Not a bad plan, also don't forget a converter!!
