Likely to avoid installation confusion, the only thing that really matters on a conventional cylinder head is that the large coolant holes in the gaskets line up to the ports at the rear of the block to allow coolant to flow back into the heads and forward to the water pump outlet.

Now... the GMPP LSX block does require a left and right gasket due to the extra bolt holes that are located under the intake flange, these are offset slightly and do not align when flipped over like the "4-bolt" head gasket. So if these "6-bolt" head bolt locations are required, a L + R head gasket specific to the LSX block must be used.
