Default 1.8 rockers and 317 heads problem

I have an ls1, caddy race lifters, 317 heads that have been decked .05", patriot gold duals, and 1.8 comp adjustable rockers. I bought an adjustable pushrod checker that works from 7.00-7.6. My pushrod checker is shortened all the way to 7.0, my adjustable rockers are backed all the way out, and the push rod is still too long. Could I really need a pushrod that is under 7 inches in an ls1 motor? Its looking like I may need something in the ballpark of 6.8... It also seems like my springs are installed pretty high, which might be causing my rocker to be pushed up on the valve side. Their installed height is 1.8" but Im not sure of their compatibility with the 1.8 rockers or if my machine shop maybe installed them at the wrong height? Sorry for the long post but thanks in advance.
