6.0L heads on a 5.3 LM7...
I'm thinking that this could be a budget turbo LSX project in the near future so what would the compression ratio be if I put some 6.0L iron heads on a 5.3L truck motor? Thanks!

I see a lot of varying info here from 8.5:1 to 8.1:1. Are those iron truck heads much more different than the aluminum heads? As I recall, I have the 873 casting that came off a 99 Silverado. The reason that I would like to use these iron heads would be because it would be wasteful to just throw these great heads away, let alone sell them for $20 to a scrap yard... IMO
Plus one of my friends has a Trans Am with some PERFORMANCE iron heads (230 CC) on a 355 and can push about 600 rwhp on pump gas.

And from what I hear, the 4.8L/5.3L casting has a much thicker cylinder wall than the 6.0L iron block and LS1 so that would mean you should be able to push much more boost through it before you would have problems. Sounds like that would be a nice budget turbo project...

I'm not worried about the cylinder wall thickness as much as I am the crank/rod holding together. That's a shitload of power for a stock setup. I mean if its been done over and over I can see trying to duplicate it. But personally, I think I'd stay to around 500-600whp.

I also have a neighbor that is selling a one owner super clean 84 S10 for $300. Motor has 344,000 miles and burns oil so it is pretty much done for. It even has A/C! For that price, this truck would be a hell of a boosted low budget sleeper project and daily driver (after I sell my 98 Z28).
