Default P0118 and no coolant gauge reading!

99 camaro
new crate engine just installed runs great everything was working fine then,

Coolant temp gauge stopped working and the check engine light came on for p0118 which is "high voltage temp sensor circuit"

I'm having trouble figuring this out,

I checked the sensor and its resistance is in spec.

I checked the wiring from both terminals on the temp sensor connector and traced them back to the ecu, they are both good.

5v at the yellow wire, solid ground at the black wire

Jumping the connector does NOTHING for the gauge (supposed to max it out)

Any ideas?
