Default Yella Terra Shims Thickness

Would anyone happen to know the thickness of the shims that come with the yella terra stock ratio rockers. I was just wondering if going with a half thickness washer would quiet down the valvetrain?

Crane makes a shim kit for Ford rockers that come in (roughly) .015 and .030 thick shims. Works well with our set ups.

After I installed the YT's, I noticed that they really "tick". I was thinking that maybe a shim somewhere in between no shim and the YT shim would quiet down things a little. Am I thinking in the right direction? By the way, does using shims take away a little lift away? I guess if I had not hocked all of my mic's when I quit work as a machinist I would not have to ask such questions.

YT shims are .050" thick and are plain ol' flat washers (.750" OD x .350" ID). Adding shims DOES NOT reduce lift, it only changes the preload on the lifters.

How many turns (from zero lash) until the rocker bolts were tight, before using shims? And after? You might not need shims at all.

I think I got like 1.5 turns on the rocker bolts before the shims and somewhere between 1 turn and 3/4 of a turn with the shims, if I remember correctly, I did the swap a few months ago when I changed heads.

I've actually found that less preload on the cars I do give less tick sound.I try to get .050-.080 preload.I've seen stock as high as .170.

Very interesting. So your saying I might possibly be able put in a thicker shim and quiet things down. I might give that a shot. Thanks

I actually go with 7.350 pushrods with most Cam changes.

I was not real sure about what length pushrods to go with, did some research on here and came up with some saying 7.4, others saying 7.35, so I went back with stock, because it is my only means of transport, I could not afford the down time to check it after installing cam and heads and then order pushrods, but I can always change em If need be.
