Thumbs up Questions about G5X2 Cam with FMS/Meaux Stg 2 Heads?

Please comment on how you think this combo would fair. This is what I am currently running:

FMS / Meaux Racing Stage II heads, 2.02 / 1.57, Comp hardened pushrods
Comp Cams 978 dual springs, retainers, locators
Comp Cams Custom 224 single pattern cam, XER lobes, .581 lift, 112 LS

The Meaux racing heads flowed 291cfm intake / 239 exhaust at .600.

With this combo the car has run 11.6's @ 119-120 in the 1/4, and pulled 400rwhp through a 9", 4.33's, in street trim yada yada.

Im considering a quick cam swap to see if there is anything left in the car, and looking at the g5x2 cam or something larger in general. What stands to be gained and are the springs and rest of valvetrain good to go for a cam like the g5x2?

It seems as if major advances are being made since this combo went in, and it bothers me cam/bolton ls1s are running as fast as h/c/i were a couple yrs ago.. Just tryin to keep up!

Thanks for any input!
Sean

Is this on a stock shortblock? If it is than you will probably have piston to valve issues. But you should see major gains if you can get it to fit.

Why don't you just get Allan to pick you a little bigger stick?

Allan can pick you a great stick. Something like I was running would be perfect.. Ask him to see if he agrees.. The FM-9 Cam is nice..

You should really give Futral a call and let him pick out your new cam seeing as he built the motor and knows those heads inside and out.

Sean, good seeing you are still alive man... Where ya at Bragg?

As for a camshaft, let Allan cut one for you. As said above, he knows the heads and motor itself. I could definately see ya getting something a lil bigger than a 224 in there, but be careful not to "mismatch" your combo like so many others do. Allans cams do seem to make good power on the lobes he cuts them on. Give him a call. Give me a call while your at it, its been a while.

Yep still at Bragg, for the next couple months.. then off Afghaniland. Yeah I got the thirst for more thats for sure, but I was worried about a mismatch. I know futral and meaux porting combos, arent all about the flow numbers and lift its all about the parts working together and flow velocity etc. Its just been crazy busy around here so I was lookin to get some input from u guys. Ill call Allan as u suggested though... Ron ill hit u up too, congrats on your car.. i know its been a long fight to get there
