Default 422,what Cam will be best for my setup?

Looking for a strong Cam for my setup.

Ussing ported LS6's with 2.02/1.60,flow 300cfm at .550. or maybe the new AFR's.
Looking for a Cam that will peek around 6000rpm and a little lope at idle.

Thinking around 240/240 on 114 +4 with .595 lifts?(spring life)

How does that sound?

Also what would be the difference of changing my FLP's to QTP 1 7/8 Headers?Worth the change?

I would go with a solid battle tested big cubed performer, MTI-S1 cam, that i am running in my 427 motor in my A4 which has never stalled on the street and was the first big cubed cam to put a N/A LS1 stroker into the 9s on motor-THE COLONEL'S Z28. See my sig. for specs. and this cam is great and actually pretty tame on the street other than a little shake, rattle and rumble and a decent little noticable idle.

Cam specs. are 244/244, 112lsa .612 lift

Do you think the heads will support it? You could use bigger valves...or does the flow get that much better above .550? At .595 lift, spring life pretty much becomes irrelevant to me. A buddy of mine is lifting like .612 in his stroker and was using a Stage 3 head. He did like 503 RWHP and I think using the S1 cam. Not sure though. Consider a 112 LSA to get the power peak lower in the band, too. It will give you the lope, too!

The Heads keep flowing past .550,I think they flow 310 at .600.
On the 244,what lobes are they?I'm also trying to stay away from XER.

So maybe a 244/244 .600 lift XE lobes on 112?
The car will probly get sprayed too,but 100 shot max so Cam shouldn't matter.

Ya the comp cams 244 is perfect for the big inch motors. I would do more head though it will need more flow those are small stage 2`s. I just finished a 422 with 2.08 1.60 valves the heads flowed 328 by .550 and it has that cam. Runs great idles even better, getting it tuned now have not got #`s yet.

You can't go wrong with my S1 cam. It's STILL the only hydraulic cam to have gone 9s NA...and that was a couple of years ago. I thought for sure others would be doing it by now.

You want bigger valves in those heads.

Still don't know if I'll keep the LS6's or go with the new AFR heads for big bore's.

My S1 422ci made 475rwhp/505rwtq, locked converter, through a 9", and on slicks, I would use this cam as a benchmark for sure it's always made power.

for the 244 cam the generic part number would be 54-000-11 and the grind number would be
LS1 3732R/3732R HR 112+4
Those are XER lobes...there isnt a 244 XE LOBE

Question...

Are you looking for #3655?? Specs: 297*-244*-.350"-.595"

There are also a ton of "proprietary" lobes that the public can't get...

Slowhawk... I spoke to Mike Dez on the plane to PRI and about you using the AFR/FTI stuff. Call him to set things up.
