Default How much power gain from stock 243ss to PRC 243's?

I have some stock brand new 243 cylinder heads I was planning on installing soon but I'm now considering either trying to port the heads myself, still searching about this topic, or sell them and get the PRC stage 1 cylinder heads with my 1218 springs. How much of a gain in power, change in gas milage and drivability at low rpm would there be?

The stock 243's are rated about 260cfm@ .500 lift and the PRC heads are rated at 293cfm @ .500 lift. I was guessing 30rwhp gain with the stockers and 45rwhp+ with the PRC heads.

Also if anybody would be interested in the stock 243's, they are excellent condition and brand new LS6 heads but unsure if they are actually the sodium exhaust valves. Assembled with .550 lift LS6 springs. Asking $625 pick-up only unless willing to pay shipping.

Typically gains swapping to a stock LS6 head over your SL1 head will be about 10-15rwhp. We have seen an average of 25-30rwhp gains by porting the LS6's from their stock form.

Let us know if we can help. Since you've already got the LS6 castings, we could just port those and save you a few bucks too!

Maybe you're thinking of 241 heads which your statement would be true, for 243's they are about 260cfm @28" water.

sums up my opinion. just send them off to be ported by TSP, dont waste time and money selling and then buying again.

The 243s are worth a lot more than 15rwhp though, how else would the LS6 be 405hp where the 2002 LS1s were around 350-360hp besides the slightly larger cam. I've looked at a lot of dynosheets online where 30rwhp was picked up on stock gaskets.

The Patriot stg 1.0 heads are about $1075 shipped assembled and shipping my heads there and back to texas plus the work would make me into the heads around $1400. Thats why I want to sell them and buy new ones.

I guess my 241 to 243 ported heads estimate of 45rwhp is correct for my setup?

look up TEA (Total Engine Airflow), FTI (Flowtech Inductions), or AI (Advanced Inductions) if you want to get your 243's worked.
