Default Motor Knocking, Plz HELP!

c5 corvette z06
65k

Ok guys, i pulled in my house one night and noticed a burnt oil smell. Popped the hood and saw oil spewing from intake manifold gasket, so the next day i pulled everything off replaced the gaskets and go to start her up and BAM

A knocking noise, so i had a mechanic buddy come over and said i didnt bolt down the manifold correctly so we took it all off again and did it all over, cleaned everything up and bolt it down coreectly and its still knocking.

So today, we decide to take off the valve covers to check the rods, springs, rockers just everything visual. Everything was good rods were straight. Had some extra coil packs lying around and tried those on just for a shot too, and still it is knocking.

It has never knocked before. And doesnt have crazy mods, Just intake and a tune. So i have no idea what is happening or going on. Dont see why something this bad could come from replacing gaskets, and no i didnt drop anything in the motor

IF anyone can help, i would greatly appreciate it!!

Whats the oil pressure like? How does the oil look? Did you ever look at your oil temp gauge on the vette when it happened. If you spun a bearing usually the oil temp will be higher than usual due to the extra friction.

I would drain the oil and cut the filter open. Check the drain plug magnet also.

Pressure is fine, not sure on the temp.
Ill try and post a vid later.
No nothing was dropped in the port.
And someone was saying a collapsed lifter?

The oil is black but was changed around 4k at the most ago. RP.

The knock after we re did the manifold was more of a random knock, but after a few more starts it became more consistent?

Oh and the SES light is on for a p0300 misfire code.
Not a specific cylinder.
So kinda stumped.

OK. You lost me. How does a intake manifold gasket spew oil??? There isn't anything in there but air except for the oil the PVC misses? Pictures would be nice.

It was spewing from like the intake manifold gasket, like close to the valve cover gasket, but after replacing the intake manifold gaskets everything was good cept the knock.

Are you sure it was from the intake gasket?Spewing makes me think you are saying it was sraying? You sure it wasnt the valve cover gasket cause that would have to be alot of oil for a pcv to miss. Not trying to correct you but it would have had to pour out of the intake when u took it off.I just really dont see how thats possible. How much oil did you lose?Is it low?A collapsed lifter will sound more like a loud tick other than a knock.Just trying to help but, Need more info

It was spewing for like a little bit, out of the intake gasket cause i checked the valve cover gasket and everything was good. And when i took off the manifold oil was all in it(not a crazy amount but when i flipped over the intake oil def was coming out), and throttle body and a little at the beginning of the intake air bridge.

It was a little low, but nothing crazy.

Yeah this isnt like a tick but more of a knock, its weird. Im going to try and put a vid up a little later, give yall more of a idea.

The oil will definetly throw your 0300 code.Check your pcv to make sure its not stuck open also check to see if your throttle body blade has oil on it.As far as the knock we need to here a video.

Misfire code and some "knocking". Have you over revved the motor lately, or during that ride home? Not let it get warm before getting on it? Reason I'm asking is because it could possibly be a bent pushrod.

With the assumption you checked for a broke valvespring, pushrod, rocker arm ect.....I noticed you said u pulled the valvecover tho,but all these are the tell tale sign of a 0300 code.

So yes if you indeed checked all the items mentioned then the oil would be the cause of the 0300 code.

pull the plug on each coil individually, if the noise goes away or decreases this indicates a lower end noise (wrist pin, rod bearing, ect.) after that i would do a leakdown test to see if you bent a valve or something. you could also take of the valve covers again and try to twist the springs by hand this will usually show a broken spring.
