oil pump hi pressure or standerd pressure spring?
hey guys, i ordered my lingenfelter high volume pump. it comes with 2 springs. for the standard it says max psi it will reach is 60 psi and the hi pressure will let off at 70 or 75 i think, which would be most preferred after a cam swap? wouldent too much pressure have too much oil in the valvetrain but not enough in the crank area? and also it came with a green o ring and a black one, but arent the ones on the LS1 a blue one? thanks guys

The spring determines at what pressure the little piston is pushed up it its' bore and relieves the excess pressure back to the pan. It doesn't determine what your pressure is at any given point in time. It only asks if you want relief at 60 or 70. When you reach that value you get relief.

I believe that the lingenferter Pumps are actually Meling Pumps...The lingenfelter pump also has default the higher Red spring installed. if you want lower relief you have to put in the white spring.
The actual meling pumps come with the Red spring (higher) installed if you want lower you take out the Red and put in the White spring.
I left the Red in mine and it works great.
As for the o-ring if you have a fbody engine and oil pickup use the black o-ring. (the stock color should be a light blue if its factory)

ok hopefully the black o ring works, and the instuction sheet was included, i guess for the cars its the black 1 and the trucks use a green one. i was curious because i think when i went full throttle on my car with stock motor i think the stock oil psi would hit 70 atleast. but i know the stock guages are a bit crappy but is it that much off?

Stock gauges are shitty yes. I went with the black o ring bc my pick-up matched the one in the picture. it should fit fairly snug when going back together but not super tight.
