Eventhough I didn't get any initial responses, I kept it updated. Read post #2 and it will tell you what I did to solve this problem. Good luck, man.

Is this on the LS1 block? You might want to avoid the aggravation and find a replacement block. I know, I know, that's not something you want to do. But, if you can't get it out or you damage the threads, it's all going to be a waste of time. LS1 blocks are now pretty cheap. Hell, I pick-up an 2004 LS6 short block (pistons, rods, crank) for $500.00. You might also consider an upgrade to an LS2 block. Just a thought. Good luck.

If you can find a 7/16" hole saw, it should be about the same dia as the head bolt hole...use it w/o the pilot bit, and basically core drill the broken bolt (and extractor) out.
From there, there are heli-coil repair kits available for the odd M11 head bolt thread.
I've not tried this, but have used the same technique on other applications. If your alternative is another block, it is worth a shot.

Find someone with a large sinking EDM machine. That is about the only way your likely to get it out without damaging the threads.
I am a tool and die maker, and never use extractors. Once you break them you are screwed. Carbide will drill them, but you will be trying to drill into a jagged end and the carbide drill will walk and/or break also.

EDM is the key. I broke off a bolt in the end of my crankshaft on my new stroker... then broke an EZ out trying to get it out. Luckily for me the motor was not in the car yet, but it was still a huge pain in the ***. I found a place that had an EDM machine and took it to them. $300 later the bolt was out... but it was worth every penny.

You're crying about spending $400 yet you're thinking about building a stroker? Perhaps you should rethink that, as you will spend at LEAST 12-15x that, without going crazy. Not trying to be a dick, but you need to know what you're getting yourself into.
