Hello, I purchased parts for a head/cam install a couple years ago and never got them installed, but I'm looking forward to the install now. I do need lifters to go with this combination, but have read too many horror stories about the CompR's. Are they the only way to go or do the LS7 will work on this combination?

Absolute Speed Stage 2 Heads with 978 springs
HS rocker arms
FMS F13 cam
GM head gaskets
Comp 7.4 pushrods

I believe that there should be better parts now than in 2004-05 so any suggestions are welcome.

How much are you looking to spend on lifters? LS7's are pretty damn solid, but if you are ok with spending 500 or so you should look into getting some Morel lifters.

If you decide on the compR's, you will need adjustable rockers (they have a very small range for preload, much smaller than the steps in sizes of push rods). Are your HS rockers the adjustables or non adjustables?

I would go LS7 or Comp 850 OE replacement lifters. The Comp R's do have a small window for preload and have been known to fail if not setup properly. Like mentioned above, you will need adjustable rockers if you don't already to set them up properly. We can get you setup on either way you decided to go and have both on the shelf and ready to ship today! PM me or give us a call!

why would you need adjustable rockers to set them up properly...you set preload with pushrod length

edit i see where youre saying smaller than pushrods steps offered....FYI...call up terry manton he'll cut you any length pushrod you need and theyre much better/stiffer than the standard 5/16 .080 wall thats the standard on the market...they are even comparable in price...im running 3/8 .065 wall 3 pc pushrods on my TFS 215s, he even cut me two different lengths...8 for intake and 8 for exhaust so I could have the same preload...they were around 7.565 or 7.570 lenth

i would agree though...go with OE replacement or ls7 lifters if you dont wanna spend the dough on morels

I have the ls7 lifter and they are cheap, but i rev. a little past 7,000 with a cam near .600 lift with no valve float. GM did their homework on the ls7 engine. everything on that motor is near perfect.

I went with the Comp 850's and Comp .105 wall pushrods myself.
