Default LQ9 Cam info neded for shift points.

I have a friend with an 02 Escalade telling me to make it shift @ 6800 because thats where it makes peak power at. I honestly dont think thats true, I think he was misinformed. Just wondering where the peak power is so I can tune the shift points for him. I did a 99 5.3L and set the shift points to 6200, I'm kinda leaning toward that for the 6.0 also. Thanks

I would say he is lucky if peak is at 5200-5500 range.

Well if his stock truck cam peaks at 6800 you need to inform him you want to shift around 300 rpm after peak, so talk him into 7100 and get an in truck video of the test runs. lol.

I'm not full skilled in this dept, but if its fairly stock engine and stock is 5200rpm shifts I would move it up 300-500rpm but no higher.

The LQ9 cam is 196/207 .479/.467 116-1. JUst by specs alone you can tell it doesnt need RPM. I ran it for a while and it was peaking at 5500 RPM(ish).

I believe the truck motors (LQ9 etc) generally peak much sooner in the power band than car motors (LS1 etc) for towing/hauling.
